The bond market’s not calming down
Wall Street’s old hands are waving the caution flag again. According to BCA Research strategist Arthur Budaghyan, U.S. bonds could keep sliding until financial conditions tighten — which is a fancy way of saying the market may need to get a little more uncomfortable before it gets its act together.
Why you should care
When bonds keep selling off, it doesn’t just stay a “fixed income” problem. Higher yields can raise borrowing costs, pressure stock valuations, and generally make the whole market mood feel a bit more like a Monday morning.
The setup
The core idea here is pretty simple:
- If financial conditions stay loose, bond weakness can keep going
- If yields keep rising, the pressure can spill into equities and other risk assets
- If conditions finally tighten, the selloff may start to lose steam
Big picture
This isn’t a headline about one stock or one earnings miss. It’s about the plumbing underneath the market — the kind of macro backdrop that can quietly bully everything else around. In other words: if bonds are the drama queen here, the rest of the market may have to live with it.
