Ark hits the brakes a little
Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest did what active managers do when a stock gets a little too spicy: it took some chips off the table. On Thursday, Ark sold 20,805 shares of Palantir across ARKQ and ARKX, worth about $3.95 million at the stock’s closing price of $190.40.
That’s not exactly a fire sale. More like a portfolio diet. But when the name in question is Palantir — one of the market’s loudest AI beneficiaries — even a modest trim can nudge sentiment.
Why Palantir still has everyone yelling about AI
The stock has already ripped 60% in the third quarter after a rough first half, and that kind of move tends to make investors do the math twice. Bulls are pointing to the company’s accelerating enterprise AI business, while skeptics are wondering whether the valuation is getting a little too “trust me, bro.”
Peter Thiel recently said U.S. corporate AI demand is booming, and Palantir’s numbers do back up the story: its U.S. commercial revenue hit $764 million in Q2 2026, up 149% year over year. That’s the kind of growth that makes a lot of people lean in — and makes others nervously check their portfolio weights.
Big picture
Ark’s sale doesn’t change Palantir’s core story, but it does remind you that even the hottest AI trade gets trimmed when it starts looking a little frothy. In other words: the party’s still on, but someone just turned the music down a notch.
