More watts, more bragging rights
Applied Digital says it brought an additional 75 MW of AI infrastructure online at Polaris Forge 1, its campus in Ellendale, North Dakota. That lifts the site’s fully operational critical IT load to 250 MW, which is a pretty good party trick when your whole business is basically “can we get enough power to feed the AI monster?”
The milestone comes from Ready for Service on the second phase of Building 2, which completes the building’s full 150 MW critical IT load across three 25 MW data halls. In plain English: the company is still converting a giant pile of electricity into actual usable capacity for customers. Shocking, we know, but that’s the business model.
Why investors care
Applied Digital says Polaris Forge 1 is fully leased and contracted to deliver 400 MW at full buildout, so this isn’t just a ribbon-cutting moment. It’s a step toward more operational scale, more contracted infrastructure, and potentially more confidence that the company can keep executing on the AI data-center boom.
Big picture
For APLD, every new megawatt online is a tiny vote of confidence that the “power first, profits later” strategy can actually work. And in today’s AI infrastructure race, that’s the kind of update the market tends to reward.
