Record revenue, same old growth-stock drama
Palladyne AI says Q2 2026 was its biggest revenue quarter yet, with sales reaching $5.8 million — up 63% from the prior quarter. That’s the sort of number companies love to put in bold, especially when they’re still trying to prove the market wants what they’re selling.
Backlog is the real headline
The more interesting bit for investors might be the backlog. Palladyne said it ended the quarter with $25 million in backlog, up from $17 million, and booked about $13 million in new business during Q2. In growth-stock land, backlog is the company’s version of “trust me, the orders are coming.”
Guidance stays put, which is its own message
Management reaffirmed full-year 2026 revenue guidance of $24 million to $27 million and expects operating cash burn of $32 million to $36 million. Translation: the company sees momentum, but it’s still spending real money to chase it.
Defense dreams and robot things
The call also leaned hard into strategic initiatives, including work on decentralized embodied collaborative AI, field demos of Swarm OS and Gremlin X, and a follow-on order for 1,000 BRAIN units worth $2.3 million. Palladyne also said it has submitted proposals for more than 20 Department of War funding programs with a potential value in the hundreds of millions.
Big picture: Palladyne is trying to turn “interesting tech” into “actual revenue,” and Q2 looked like a step in that direction — but you’re still early in the movie, not the credits roll.
