Coffee deal, now with legal stamp approved
Keurig Dr Pepper's takeover saga with JDE Peet's just hit another checkpoint. On September 29th, the Enterprise Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam backed the statutory squeeze-out proceedings launched by Kodiak BidCo B.V., KDP's indirectly wholly-owned subsidiary, to scoop up the rest of JDE Peet's shares.
That means shareholders can voluntarily transfer their shares to KDP before October 16th, 2026 at 15:00 CET. In plain English: the deal is moving from “please accept” to “last call at the coffee bar.”
Why investors should care
This matters because squeeze-outs are usually the endgame for an acquisition. Once the legal machine starts humming, the target gets less like a standalone company and more like a future integration project.
For KDP, that can mean:
- More control over its coffee assets
- Less uncertainty around ownership structure
- One more step toward simplifying the post-deal setup
Big picture
KDP has been making coffee moves like it wants to own the whole latte machine, not just the beans. If this closes cleanly, investors get a clearer path to whatever the company’s next chapter looks like — and fewer plot twists from Amsterdam courts.
