Q3 is loading
Charles Schwab is headed into its third-quarter earnings report before the opening bell on October 15th. Wall Street is looking for $1.67 a share on $7.21 billion in revenue, which is a neat reminder that the market always shows up with a calculator and a tiny bit of anxiety.
Analysts are doing the usual dance
The headline here isn’t just the earnings date — it’s the mixed bag of analyst calls hanging over the stock. Piper Sandler trimmed its price target from $118 to $100 and stayed Neutral, while Compass Point came out swinging with a Buy and a $135 target. Morgan Stanley nudged its target up to $136, Argus moved to $114, and UBS lifted to $128.
That’s a lot of opinion for one stock, but it’s the kind of chaos that often shows up right before earnings: everyone wants to look smart, nobody wants to look surprised.
A Texas twist
Schwab also said on Oct. 1 that it will begin dual listing its common stock on the Texas Stock Exchange while keeping NYSE as the primary listing. In other words, it’s not moving houses — just adding a second mailbox.
Big picture: if Schwab can beat expectations or guide confidently, the dual-listing buzz may become a nice side plot instead of the main event.
