Big contracts, bigger asterisk
Nebius is out here bragging about a pretty eye-popping number: about $40 billion in customer commitments. That sounds like the kind of backlog figure that makes investors sit up straight... until you notice where most of it comes from.
Roughly $32 billion is tied to Microsoft and Meta, with another up to $17 billion on top of that. In other words, the AI infrastructure party is real — but the guest list is a little too dependent on two VIPs.
Why the market cares
For bulls, this is exactly the kind of headline they want. Huge commitments can mean sticky revenue, long runway, and proof that Nebius isn’t just collecting vibes and GPU invoices.
But concentration cuts both ways:
- If Microsoft or Meta slow spending, Nebius feels it fast.
- A massive contract list can still be fragile if the customer mix is lopsided.
- Investors may start asking whether this is durable demand or just a couple of very large checks.
The catch
This is less a “small startup found product-market fit” story and more a “your biggest customers are also your biggest risk” situation. Great for headline growth. Slightly less great for bedtime reading if you’re modeling cash flows.
Big picture: Nebius is showing real traction in AI infrastructure, but the next question is simple — can it broaden the customer base before the dependency gets awkward?
