Flex said it’s selling $2.0 billion of Series A convertible preferred stock in Axiom, the company’s Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment, to investors led by General Catalyst and Koch Equity Development. Translation: the AI infrastructure party is still going, and Axiom just got a very expensive VIP wristband.
Why investors should care
The transaction pegs Axiom at an initial enterprise value of $37.5 billion, which is not exactly pocket change. Flex says the segment is being positioned to ride long-term demand for AI infrastructure, and the company plans to separate Axiom into an independent, publicly traded company in the first quarter of calendar 2027.
The bigger picture
For Flex holders, this is one of those corporate moves that can change the whole valuation math. A spinning wheel of capital plus a future spinout can sometimes surface hidden value — though, as always, the market loves a clean breakup story almost as much as it loves a good earnings beat.
Big picture: Flex is effectively telling investors, “the parts may be worth more than the whole,” and the market usually pays attention when management starts rearranging the furniture.
