New deal, same psychedelic hustle
Psyence BioMed is taking another swing at its ibogaine ambitions, this time by partnering with DEA-registered Benuvia Operations to establish U.S. manufacturing for pharmaceutical-grade ibogaine.
That sounds a little less Silicon Valley moonshot and a little more “okay, show me the factory.” And for a small biotech, that’s the point: if you want to turn a promising compound into a business, you need a legitimate way to make it at scale, under the right rules, without a regulatory migraine.
Why investors should care
This kind of partnership can be more than just corporate wallpaper. It helps Psyence BioMed build credibility around supply, compliance, and execution — three things that tend to separate real biotech stories from expensive science-fair projects.
The big question, of course, is whether ibogaine becomes a real commercial opportunity or just another psychedelic market wish list item. But if you’re watching PBM, this is the sort of operational plumbing that has to happen before anything bigger can.
