New month, same swagger
Zscaler came into Investor Day and basically said: relax, the plan is still working. The company reaffirmed its first-quarter and fiscal 2027 outlook, and both sets of numbers are still running ahead of analyst estimates. That’s the kind of update investors like, because it says the business isn’t just growing — it’s growing with some cushion.
AI: the shiny new growth engine
The bigger headline, though, was CEO Jay Chaudhry’s view that agentic AI could be one of the biggest opportunities in Zscaler’s history. That’s a bold claim, but it fits the vibe here: if companies are going to stuff more AI into their workflows, they’ll also need someone to keep the doors locked, the data fenced in, and the bad guys from strolling across the network like they own the place.
Zscaler says its Zero Trust platform is built for exactly that. The pitch is simple:
- protect sensitive data
- block AI-driven threats
- shrink the attack surface
- keep threats from moving laterally once they’re in
IBM enters the chat
Zscaler also got a boost from a new collaboration with IBM and Red Hat announced Monday. The trio is working on real-time protection for private applications in the awkward gap between a vulnerability being discovered and a patch finally making it out the door.
That may sound niche, but for investors it matters because it gives Zscaler another way to wedge itself deeper into enterprise security budgets. Translation: more reasons customers may keep paying, upgrading, and sticking around.
Why the stock cared
The market liked the combo of decent upside guidance, a big AI narrative, and fresh partnership news. Zscaler shares were up about 3% on Tuesday, which is basically Wall Street saying, “Okay, show me more.” And with the company still talking up a path toward $10 billion in ARR, the long-term story remains intact.
Big picture: Zscaler isn’t just selling cybersecurity anymore — it’s trying to sell the security layer for the AI era. If that works, the opportunity could be huge. If not, it’s still a pretty good way to keep investors interested.
