Another bite at the AI apple
Aehr Test Systems says its lead hyperscale customer is coming back for more Sonoma gear, this time with roughly $6 million in follow-on production orders. Translation: the AI chip testing shop isn’t just shipping one-off demo equipment — it’s getting pulled deeper into the customer’s next-gen processor program.
What’s in the basket?
The order stack includes:
- additional Sonoma high-power package-level test and burn-in systems
- turnkey burn-in modules, or BIMs
- device-specific sockets
- software upgrades to help production run smoother
That matters because package-level burn-in is the unglamorous but very real quality-control checkpoint that helps chips survive the heat before they get dropped into data centers and put to work training and running AI models.
Why investors should care
This is Aehr’s second AI processor program on Sonoma with this customer, and production is expected to ramp in calendar 2027. So while today’s news isn’t a giant revenue fireworks show, it does suggest the relationship is expanding — and that’s usually the kind of breadcrumb investors like to see before the bigger shipments start.
Big picture: if the AI buildout is a gold rush, Aehr wants to be the company selling the shovels, the buckets, and the safety helmets.
