New AI, meet actual humans
Atlassian just rolled out a Forward Deployed Engineering program, which is a fancy way of saying it’s sending senior applied AI engineers straight into customer environments. Think less “here’s a dashboard, good luck” and more “we’ll sit next to you and help wire this thing into your business.”
Why this matters
The company says the program is designed to speed up enterprise AI transformation and build production-ready solutions. That includes enriching the organizational context behind its Teamwork Graph, which is Atlassian-speak for making its software smarter about how work flows across a company.
For investors, this is interesting because it hints at a more services-heavy, hands-on way to land bigger enterprise deals. If Atlassian can turn AI from a feature into a workflow-changing implementation, that could deepen customer relationships and make its platform stickier.
The big picture
This isn’t a moonshot acquisition or a fireworks-filled earnings beat. But it does show Atlassian is trying to move from “AI-enabled software” to “we’ll help you actually make AI work.” In enterprise software, that’s often where the real money hides. Big picture: the closer Atlassian gets to customers’ actual business problems, the harder it gets for those customers to leave.
