ARK’s AI cart got a lot heavier
Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest spent Tuesday acting like it had a coupon code for the AI aisle. The firm snapped up about $31 million across Amazon, CoreWeave, Meta, Symbotic and Baidu, while trimming roughly $26.5 million from Teradyne.
That’s not exactly a subtle message. ARK isn’t just betting on one shiny AI winner — it’s spreading the love across the whole stack, from cloud compute to warehouse robots to model builders. Very diversified. Very “I have opinions about the future.”
Amazon gets the biggest wink
Amazon grabbed the biggest chunk of the buying spree at $9.2 million, and the timing matters. The company recently lifted its 2026 capex outlook to about $220 billion, with AI infrastructure and data-center buildout doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
For investors, that’s the familiar two-step: more spending now, with the hope that the AI arms race turns into more cloud revenue later. If you own AMZN, you’re basically signing up for the expensive part first.
Why trim Teradyne?
Teradyne has been one of the AI boom’s quieter winners, thanks to demand tied to semiconductor testing and robotics. But ARK’s sale suggests Wood may think some of the easy money in AI beneficiaries has already been made — or at least that the next dollar is more attractive elsewhere.
Big picture: ARK is rotating, not retreating
The important bit here isn’t just the buys or the sell. It’s the pattern. ARK looks less like it’s backing away from AI and more like it’s moving around the chessboard: hyperscale cloud here, infrastructure there, automation over there.
In other words, the fund still wants AI exposure — it just wants the whole buffet, not another plate of the same thing. Big picture: when ARK starts reallocating this way, it can be a clue about where speculative money thinks the next leg of the AI story lives.
