Germany just turned the volume up
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Supervised system got a fresh dose of political tailwind in Europe after Germany’s transport minister urged the EU to approve it “in a timely manner.” Elon Musk, never one to miss a victory lap, replied with a cheerful “Danke Schön!” on X.
Why investors care
This is not the same as a full-blown Europe-wide approval, but it’s the kind of regulatory momentum Tesla wants. The company has been trying to expand FSD across the continent, and a faster EU sign-off could turn the software into a bigger revenue and narrative engine — the kind Wall Street loves because it sounds like optionality with a charger cable.
Still not a free-for-all
European regulators are still waving the safety flag. Germany’s ministry said drivers remain 100% responsible, and safety groups continue to gripe about the system’s speed-limit behavior. So yes, the door is opening — but there’s still a bouncer at the entrance.
Big picture
Tesla keeps trying to turn FSD from “cool demo” into “real regulatory product,” and Europe is the next big test. If Brussels eventually says yes, that could widen Tesla’s software runway. If it says not yet, well, same old Tesla: a lot of hype, a lot of scrutiny, and a lot of people watching every move.
