Another ship, another step toward FLNG
Golar LNG is adding to its floating-LNG toolbox again. The company said it agreed to buy the LNG carrier Grace Dahlia from NYK Line, a vessel built in 2013 and, according to Golar, kept in solid operational shape.
Why this matters
This isn’t just a random ship shopping trip. Golar’s basically assembling the Lego pieces it needs for a fourth FLNG project, and that can be a pretty big deal for a company whose whole vibe is turning old-ish marine hardware into cash-flowing energy infrastructure.
Investor angle
If the conversion works out, Golar gets another shot at expanding its FLNG fleet and locking in more long-term project economics. If you’re watching the stock, the key question is whether this becomes another income-producing asset or just a pricey boat with a fancy new resume.
Big picture: in LNG, the hardware is half the story — the optionality is the other half.
