A strong quarter, but Wall Street still can’t agree
Applied Digital came in hot on first-quarter revenue, posting $300.39 million versus estimates of $132.16 million. That’s the kind of beat that usually gets investors doing the happy dance, even if the stock later slipped 1.4% to $23.47.
The analyst peanut gallery weighed in
After the earnings release, the forecast circus started:
- Needham kept a Buy rating but cut its price target from $83 to $70
- Wells Fargo held an Overweight rating and bumped its target from $50 to $55
So yes, analysts are still bullish-ish. They just disagree on how fast the AI-infrastructure gravy train gets moving.
Why investors should care
Applied Digital isn’t selling vibes alone. The company is pitching itself as a future leader in building and operating purpose-built AI factories, and the quarter showed it can produce real numbers that beat expectations.
But the market is also asking the annoying, very fair question: how much of this growth is durable, and how much is one giant quarter plus a lot of promise? That’s the tug-of-war behind the target-price whiplash.
Big picture: Applied Digital is still in the “prove it” phase, but at least this quarter gave the bulls a few extra receipts.
