A little wall-street sugar rush
Unity Software caught a bid on Friday after Raymond James upgraded the stock from Market Perform to Outperform and slapped a $54 price target on it. Jefferies and BTIG also chimed in with bullish calls, which is basically the market’s version of everyone at the table suddenly saying, “Actually, this dessert is worth ordering.”
Why Google is suddenly the main character
The fresh optimism isn’t just about a prettier price target. Raymond James said its view improved because Unity’s partnership with Google looks like a meaningful unlock for the company’s Grow advertising business and a way to ease worries about developer retention as Roblox keeps flexing its muscles.
In other words, investors are hearing a new story: Unity isn’t just a game-dev tool company trying to hang on. It’s trying to become more of an AI-adjacent platform with better monetization and a sturdier moat. That’s the kind of narrative Wall Street likes to put on a yoga ball and roll uphill.
The chart people love to squint at
The stock was up about 5.15% to $46.54 at the time of publication, and technically it’s been acting pretty spry — above the 20-day, 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages. Bulls also love that it’s still below the 52-week high, because apparently every gap is an invitation to daydream.
Big picture: when analysts, a high-profile partner like Google, and a stock that’s already trending in the right direction all show up on the same day, traders usually don’t ignore the party invitation.
