New AI side quest
Ondas and Palantir just took their relationship from “working together” to “let’s build a whole new company.” The two announced Regna AI, a standalone venture focused on specialized AI models for governments, defense orgs, and enterprises that don’t want their sensitive data wandering around the internet like a lost puppy.
What Regna AI is supposed to do
The pitch is pretty straightforward: use Palantir’s tech to help customers deploy AI models inside their own secure environments, while keeping control of the data. In practice, that means:
- defense and ISR use cases like drones, balloons, ground vehicles, and surface vessels
- support for environments with weak or broken connectivity
- mission recommendations for human approval instead of fully autonomous chaos
Ondas says it will be the first customer, which is a nice way of saying it wants to dogfood the product before selling it broadly. Palantir, meanwhile, is supplying the model-training plumbing and engineering muscle.
Why investors should care
This is more than a partnership press release with extra swagger. Ondas is trying to turn its existing SkyWeaver collaboration into something bigger, and it says initial customer deployments could arrive over the coming months. If sovereign AI starts landing real defense contracts, that could matter for revenue growth — and for how the market values Ondas’ AI story.
Big picture: this is Ondas betting that “secure, domain-specific AI” is the next must-have in defense, not just another buzzword in a PowerPoint deck.
